What an amazing opportunity I was given to assist Ericka & Chantal at Account Control Technology, Inc. with planning their first picnic in  years.  Absolute Events started by helping them first find & book their park location earlier this summer.  We all ended up deciding on a beautiful setting at Alumni Park on CSU, Bakersfield’s Campus. With lots of green grass, a large event space, shade and parking for the 350 people that were expected to attend…it was what I thought was the BEST Spot in Town!  With the location came the option of CSUB Campus Catering which had lots of affordable menu options to choose from (thank goodness).  It was such a pleasure to have the catering kitchen & staff onsite and familiar with the location for set up.  ACT chose to keep it simple all around this first year and served Hamburgers & Hot Dogs with all the picnic fixings…baked beans, potato salad, watermelon and cookies.  We set up a few inflatable jumpers for kids of all ages to enjoy, along with face painting.  Music, Bingo & Raffling off ACT Polo Shirts went on throughout the day…but the most excitement was the grueling competitive Water Balloon Contest, with what seemed like almost ½ the group joined in to get wet and keep cool. The Dance Off was hysterical, which had people laughing and enjoying the contestants let loose….I think the winner did the centipede. Unfortunately the Central Valley heat was a bit intense for this time of year with 50% Humidity…YIKES! But that didn’t stop everyone from having a good time!
